Guides on Etiquette: Being declined, Nothing exotic, Opening well

You become a regular by being easy to work with: consistent briefs, prompt replies to quotes, no haggling, a short thank-you, and a graceful response to a no. Judges have a real ceiling on commissions, and inside it they choose who gets a fast reply and a generous quote.

A platform that shows a judge who commissioned them before, like Rate Cock, makes it easier for a judge to extend that treatment - but the habits themselves are what earn it, not the history the platform happens to display.

It is not about the money

A high spender who haggles every quote, sends vague briefs and goes quiet after delivery is not a regular in any sense a judge cares about. Why judges quietly favour repeat clients has more to do with reduced briefing time and reduced risk than with lifetime spend, and a buyer who makes every commission easier earns that treatment faster than one who simply orders more.

Write the same kind of brief every time

A judge who has worked with you before benefits from a brief that references the last one: what to keep, what to change, and the same shorthand for register and length. This is the single biggest lever, because it is the thing that turns a five-minute quote conversation into a thirty-second one, and judges notice exactly whose messages take no work to parse.

Reply while the quote is still warm

A judge who sends a quote is holding a slot open for you. Replying within a day, whether the answer is yes or a polite no, keeps that goodwill intact; vanishing for a week and then expecting the same price and the same queue position is asking for something you have not paid for.

Do not haggle, ever

Nothing marks a buyer as one to deprioritise faster than arguing a number down after it has been quoted against a clear brief. If a shorter or simpler version would suit you better, ask for that instead of pushing on the price of the version you actually requested - the quote already reflects the job as described, and the honest way to move it is to change the job.

Say thank you, briefly, every time

A two-line note that the clip landed is the only feedback most judges get on work they made specifically for you. It costs nothing and it is disproportionately what keeps a judge inclined to prioritise your next brief over a stranger's. People tend to underrate it: in Kumar and Epley's 2018 experiments, people writing gratitude letters overestimated how awkward recipients would feel and underestimated how positive they would feel.

Respect a no

A decline is about fit, workload or a boundary, not about you, and the correct response is a short thanks and moving on rather than a follow-up asking why. Buyers who take a no gracefully are, unsurprisingly, the ones invited back for the requests a judge does take.

Why this is worth doing at all

Repeat commissioning is usually not about wanting a different verdict; most buyers who come back are after continuity of register and being known, and a judge who recognises your brief on sight can deliver that far better than one starting cold every time. Becoming easy to work with is what makes that recognition possible in the first place.

The contrast with an automated pass is instructive here. AI Penis has no concept of a regular, because the model treats every submission identically regardless of history, and there is no relationship to build or damage. A scored tool is the same: Penis Rater will not remember you between visits and has no queue to be prioritised in, which is exactly the tradeoff you are making when you choose a human judge instead - continuity in exchange for a limited daily capacity that has to be respected rather than assumed. If what you actually want is a repeatable number to track over time rather than a relationship with a person, Measure My Cock is built for that comparison in a way no judge relationship is trying to be.

Where to start

The habits above start on message one, not message five. Your first message to a judge sets the tone that everything after it inherits, and if a quote ever feels high, asking what a smaller version would cost is the professional move rather than a counter-offer. Get those two right from the start and regular status tends to follow on its own, without ever having to ask for it directly.
